Instead, you\u2019re looking for the rare occasion when market efficiency breaks<\/strong>\u2014resembling a broken ATM<\/strong> spitting out a continuous stream of 100-dollar bills to those who know what to look for\u2014a frenzy of aggressive buying or selling activity that dominates the market. Described as a \u2018strong move\u2019, price is \u2018one-way traffic\u2019 only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But here\u2019s the kicker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Market opportunities frequently resemble the deceptive tactics<\/strong> of chess. Often, the winner purposely disguises<\/strong> the outcome (checkmate) by allowing the opponent \u2018small victories\u2019\u2014taking a bishop, knight, pawns, or rook (castle)\u2014on the journey to their ultimate demise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like chess, the element of surprise<\/strong> is the catalyst for the outcome\u2014checkmate in chess, broken ATM in trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I refer to the period leading up to the broken ATM trade erupting as \u2018before the outcome is known<\/strong>\u2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a critical part of your strategy because if you wait until the outcome has taken place, you\u2019ll miss out. Make sense?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It requires knowing the deceptive moves and which market participants will fall for them. As Michael Marcus, who turned 30K into 80M, said, \u201cSuccessful trading is anticipating the anticipations of others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you\u2019re aware deceptive tactics have ensnared enough competitors to fuel the broken ATM trade, the next challenge is knowing the exact timing of the trade erupting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

They highlight the need for precision and timing skills. The reason to exit is not a \u2018gut feel\u2019; it\u2019s market evidence-driven<\/strong>. But without these skills, trades are entered only to quash hopes and dreams as the price moves further and further against you until you\u2019re facing an outsized loss. Sound familiar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you know about it being by design?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If too many of us try to ride the coattails, the market will flush many out. Why? Because this business is about the majority paying the minority. Like poker, there\u2019s no such thing as an even distribution of winnings in trading. Correct?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after the above trades, the market moved significantly lower, and hangers-on were washed out of the market for a loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the \u2018easiest\u2019 trading edges is outlasting the competition. But it\u2019s only accessible if you know how the game works. If not, you fall victim to what I refer to as the \u2018time-trap<\/strong>\u2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The broken ATM trades occurred hours later. The last of which was 6 hours after the initial trade above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason for showing one of the trades is to illustrate how the price was one-way traffic, an example of when trading takes on the appearance of seeming effortless.<\/p>\n\n\n

Notice in both charts the buying was in the same pricing area?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If held, the first attempt would have resulted in an epic fail (and loss), while the second time was successful. As mentioned, this is by design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why else do broken ATM trades transform your trading?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve already touched on it: Winnings aren\u2019t evenly distributed\u2014the majority pay for the few to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
